Imagine a club gathering some of the most famous names of our history… A place where you are next to legendary artist, renowned politicians, an avalanche of famous actors… And an international rock star… A very exclusive club and yet open to everyone… This place exists, its admission is free: welcome to the Père Lachaise cemetery!
The only problem: all visitors, frustrated, make this relevant comment when they leave: “Dead people were much more talkative when they were alive’”. All visitors… except Lucie. Miraculously, she not only has the power to communicate with the cemetery’s residents, but also to make friends with the most VIP of them: Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Honoré de Balzac and Frédéric Chopin.
Antoine Colomb and Guillaume Rio (“Gorg & Lala”, “Les PodCasts”, “Le Donjon de Naheulbeuk”), authors and future directors of the project, propose it to their producers, Carine Ruszniewski and Carole Lambert at De Films en Aiguille.
ChezEddy starts very early co-developing the film with DFEA. This way, the writing and graphic preparation are immediately synchronized with the studio. A fluid validation system is set up between our two companies in order to provide a solid framework to the future coproduction, and mostly to avoid any budget or information loss.
After the title sequence to “Splice” (Kook Ewo) in 2009, and more recently to “Plan de Table” (Parallel), ChezEddy reasserts their will to work in feature film, pursuing a logic established for a long time. At this stage of the studio development, on a technical/ pipeline level as well as on the experience collected, the feature film project “The ghosts of Père Lachaise” turns out to be a very good landmark of the soon-to-be 10 years of existence of ChezEddy (2002-2012).
The casting and the fame of Père Lachaise already establish the film into an international dimension. Chopin is a living legend in Poland, and Oscar Wilde is the last British dandy… Reaching a public both in and outside France is a goal.
Let’s praise the remarkable talent of two designers who are closed to ChezEddy and who took care of the film’s graphic preparation: Rémi Salmon for the set and Julien Faure for the characters – as well as the art direction and general supervision carried out by Jérôme Calvet and Jean-Charles Kerninon.
In all, the making of the pilot took over 75 days.
“The ghosts of Père Lachaise” pilot was presented in Cannes last week… Until we hear about what’s next: enjoy!

Magnifique. J'ai hâte de le voir. Je fréquente souvent Père Lachaise et je trouve l'idée très intéressante d'en faire un film animé sur ce lieu extraordinaire. Est-ce qu'il y a une date prévue pour la sortie ? Merci beaucoup !

Beautiful, looking forward so much to the finished film. Oscar Fingal Flaherty Wills Wilde was an Irish dandy.

Hello, I'm really excited about this film, it looks wonderful, and I am a big Jim Morrison fan , I wonder what he'll look like ;) Anyway, when would this film be available? I hope I will be able to view this online, or maybe make it available in the Netherlands?
Good luck!
